Hello
The top ten starts with a couple links that focus on such an important topic in Canada, which is the Bank of Canada tightening rates to levels we have not seen since 2001.
A strategist with an independent firm, Jim Thorne, disagreed with a senior economist with a big 5 bank on whether this is the right move.
The Scotiabank economist also weighed in and used the word ‘fiction’ with the BoC forecasts.
Despite these higher rates, David Rosenberg thinks our equity market is dirt cheap.
The challenges of these higher borrowing costs and other expenses is hurting many Canadians and MNP provides commentary on how desperate Canadians are.
LNG 2023 is the major event happening in Vancouver this week and Stewart Muir provided a brilliant summary. Yes, Nat Gas and LNG is the focus of the energy ‘trilemma’ that is a key part of the conference. Yes, our energy minister was no-show.
Brad Hayes is brilliant looking at the different energy sources and he looks at hydrogen this time and is not so positive.
The great people at Doomberg look at the water system in the western US, as it has gone from drought to a lot of rain to its current state this past year.
Many Canadians are looking at other places to live these days and guess which country is ranked number 1. A CNBC report explains why Mexico is top ranked.
Big NATO meetings this week and Peter Zeihan gives his take on Zelensky’s quest.
Finally, the movie Oppenheimer is starting next week, and many are looking forward to it. I included the trailer and some friends are reading The American Prometheus.

Number 6 - Hydrogen: the ultimate path to net zero, or a whole lot of wishful thinking - Brad Hayes
https://big-media.ca/hydrogen-the-ultimate-path-to-net-zero-or-a-whole-lot-of-wishful-thinking/
Brad closes: “But hydrogen? Industry has drilled millions of wells in sedimentary basins around the world and has found no large reservoirs full of nearly pure hydrogen. There are only traces. Where hydrogen has been detected in higher concentrations, there are no reservoirs. Either way, there is no gold hydrogen. Green, grey, and blue hydrogen are going to have to meet the challenges of the energy transition on their own, while the pursuit of naturally occurring hydrogen should be likened to fool’s gold.
