Top 10 Observations: Week of May 31th, 2024

By October 3, 2024 No Comments

Hello,

Our top ten list kicks off with an insightful interview featuring Brian Belski, along with his bullish outlook report.(attached)

The former Google CEO advocates that AI is being underestimated. Also, Jim Thorne shares enlightening remarks from Jensen Huang, the visionary CEO of NVIDIA, who draws a compelling analogy between the AI revolution and the first Industrial Revolution.

Jack Mintz provides insights on the Capital Gains Tax Hike. It has accelerated a significant movement of capital and I hear that many assets and properties are being sold before the end of June.

RBC provided great results and the stock hit another all-time high. A big part of their earnings growth was in their capital markets division, and I think they are glad they bought DS versus someone else back in 1987. Royal was to buy another brokerage firm but they changed their mind after a timely meeting with a senior Dominion Securities executive.

Data Centers will need so much power as a story shows. One proposed Google facility in Ohio may increase the grid load by 20%.

The significance of the fishing industry in BC prompts ongoing questions about salmon farms. John Ivison explores potential decisions that could adversely affect some First Nations communities.

PWC confirms there was a local Ponzi scheme, potentially one of Canada’s largest ever. In Victoria, we seem get a new Ponzi scheme every 5 to 10 years and regulatory oversight truly lacks in these areas. Plus, investors in this city never seem to learn.

In sports, certain umpires’ missed calls often steal the spotlight. Angel Hernanez is retiring, prompting reflection via an ESPN article and a highlight reel of his countless missed calls in 2023.

Dennis Quaid’s portrayal of Ronald Reagan in an upcoming movie garners attention and I included the trailer. Interesting to see Hollywood showcase a Republican during an election year.

Wishing you a fantastic weekend and you wonder if another Canadian can win in Hamilton this weekend.

Number 6- Data Centers Could Use 9% of US Electricity by 2030:

With the rapid progression and adoption of technology tools such as generative artificial intelligence, the Electric Power Research Institute claims that data centers could use up to 9% of total electricity generated in the United States by the end of the decade… more than doubling their current power consumption

Number 10- Ronald Reagan played by Dennis Quaid

ABOUT THE MOVIE: From dusty small-town roots, to the glitter of Hollywood, and then on to commanding the world stage, REAGAN is a cinematic journey of overcoming the odds. Told through the voice of Viktor Petrovich, a former KGB agent who followed Reagan’s ascent, REAGAN captures the indomitable spirit of the American dream. Starring Dennis Quaid, prepare to be moved and inspired as REAGAN comes to life on August 30, 2024.
